Q&A series: We take a look at some big questions about the Seahawks’ salary cap situation and roster.  

Today’s question: Should the Seahawks prioritize a No. 3 receiver with one of their top three picks?

Because Dee Eskridge has been a bust, there is a hue and cry by some for the Seahawks to prioritize a No. 3 receiver again this offseason — preferably with one of their top draft picks.

Should that really be a priority though? Over the front seven and interior offensive line?

Wilson wakes up & other observations from a rare win

Russell Wilson had a good value-rebuilding game, snapping out of the worst funk of his career as he hit 30 of 37 passes – his best percentage (81) of the season.

He also nailed a quick RB screen to Rashaad Penny that gained 27 yards – the most successful screen play Wilson has executed in memory (Geno Smith had a decent one earlier this season, but the Seahawks largely stink at these — as everyone knows).

Even with two third-stringers playing on the line, Wilson looked a lot more like the resilient player we have long seen. We’ll see whether he can keep it going.

Roster check as Hawks prepare for 49ers

As if the Seahawks didn’t have enough chaos, being 1-2 and needing to straighten out their defense and get their offense to sustain its play over a full game, they are doing a ton of roster juggling as well.

The big news Wednesday was that Gerald Everett became the first Seahawk to test positive for the coronavirus in the NFL’s two pandemic seasons. He seemed confident he would return “soon,” but the Hawks have to be prepared in case he doesn’t pass the test. Pete Carroll said Friday that he was vaccinated and feeling fine but had not tested negative on consecutive days yet.

Colby Parkinson, on IR with a foot injury, returned to practice this week and is expected to be activated. The Hawks also signed Jace Sternberger, a former third-round pick of the Packers, to their practice squad. Otherwise, Will Dissly and Tyler Mabry are the only eligible tight ends on the 53.
