Who knew Sept. 1 was Marshawn Lynch Day?
First, “Big Daddy” celebrates by getting “intimate” with Skittles and saying “I do” on TV.
Then we’ve got the NFL announcing that Super Bowl Media Day — otherwise known as “Marshawn Mocks the NFL Day” — will become a prime-time affair. You know the ever talkative Lynch can’t wait.
And, in real football news, Lynch’s buddy from Buffalo, Fred Jackson, reportedly is headed to Seattle to take a physical.
If the Hawks sign the 34-year-old Jackson, it probably means the end of the line for Christine Michael — unless the Hawks are possibly working a trade of Robert Turbin.
Jackson is a good all-around back who has been banged up a lot in recent seasons, but he obviously would be only relief for Lynch, who played with him from 2007 to 2010 in Buffalo.
In non-Lynch news, Greg Bishop of SI.com recounts the Hawaii bonding trip led by Russell Wilson and Kam Chancellor.
In another SI.com piece (on MMQB), Peter King suggests the Seahawks would be interested in signing Robert Griffin III if the Redskins were to waive him. There’s no way that would ever happen — Griffin would want to start somewhere, and some team would bring him in with the opportunity to do that. Clearly, the Hawks have their quarterback.
Here’s a recap of the Hawks’ moves Monday to get to 75 players, led by the somewhat surprising release of center Lemuel Jeanpierre.
