With Leonard Williams happily under contract for another three years, the Seahawks are now ready to make a run at becoming the next NFL dynasty.

Williams is the seventh mainstay extended or re-signed this year, joining Charles Cross, Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Rashid Shaheed, Josh Jobe, Derick Hall and Devon Witherspoon. That doesn’t include lesser two-year deals given to Drake Thomas and Brady Russell.

This Super Bowl team is basically set for the next two years, with only three starting spots in question next offseason: edge rusher, center and right guard. If Jalen Sundell is tendered and Beau Stephens steps into Anthony Bradford’s spot, edge rusher will be the only hole.  

Sam Darnold and Byron Murphy II should be the big extensions in 2027. AJ Barner also should get a new deal, and Ernest Jones IV and Julian Love could be re-upped again as well.

Young players such as Nick Emmanwori, Grey Zabel, Jadarian Price, Bud Clark and Stephens all should be big factors as well over the next three years.

Bottom line: This team is set up to become a dynasty – even better than Pete Carroll’s 2013-16 teams were.

“We want great players, great people, we want Seahawks on our team — as many as we can possibly have,” Mike Macdonald said. “You want to be able to pay everybody as much as you possibly can. Obviously there’s limitations on these things. … But when they’re game-changing type guys like Leo, like Spoon, like Jax, we had the opportunity to lock them up for an extended period of time and make them foundational pieces of our team. That’s got to fire you up. That’s pretty awesome.”

Williams’ deal is worth $90 million over three years — which is what we figured it might top out at. It reportedly includes $56 million in guarantees, and the $30 million average ranks fifth among NFL tackles.

“It feels amazing,” Williams said. “I think this is maybe my first time being extended while under contract with a team. It just goes to show what type of organization we have here and just how much respect and love and appreciation that I have here, and I’m grateful to (John Schneider) and Coach Mike and everybody that it took to get this done and continue my career here. It feels amazing.”

Macdonald said of Williams: “We couldn’t be more excited to get the deal done. He’s a foundational player to our club from when we got here. … Obviously a tremendous, All-Pro-caliber player, the type of person he is, absolute A-plus person, teammate, the day-to-day, how much he’s invested into our team and his teammates. Really excited to have it happen. It’s really great news.”
