Which 2026 opponents can beat the Hawks right now?

A lot of people who are not really in the know think the Seahawks have taken a step back this offseason – because they didn’t make any major additions after losing their starting running back and free safety, their third corner and their fourth edge rusher.

But they added players at three of those positions to fill the gaps and still have three picks in the first two days of the draft to augment as well. Like every other team, the 2026 Seahawks are not complete.

Even as they stand now, though, the Hawks are good enough to beat every team in the NFL on the way to another Super Bowl. The Rams are the only team that some think are better, which is completely fair to say after the Rams addressed their major weakness by trading for cornerback Trent McDuffie and also signing fellow Chiefs cornerback Jalen Watson.

As we look at the Seahawks’ opponents for 2026, we see 13 wins. That includes a 7-2 home slate against the 49ers, Cardinals, Rams, Cowboys, Giants, Chiefs, Chargers, Patriots and Bears. And then 6-2 on the road vs. the 49ers, Cardinals, Rams, Raiders, Broncos, Eagles, Commanders and Panthers.

Let’s take a look at what those teams have done so far this offseason, with projected first-round additions based on the consensus mock draft at Mock Draft Database and some comments from anonymous NFL executives to Mike Sando of The Athletic.

At the end of each team’s summary, we ask whether they could beat the Seahawks right now. We landed on one YES, two MAYBEs, five DOUBTFULs and six NOs.

Arizona

  • Key additions: RB Tyler Allgeier, WR Kendrick Bourne, OG Isaac Seumalo, OT Elijah Wilkinson, QB Gardner Minshew
  • Key losses: QB Kyler Murray, S Jalen Thompson, DT Dalvin Tomlinson
  • Top draft projection: OT Francis Mauigoa

The big news: The Cardinals cut Kyler Murray before his 2027 salary became guaranteed. They still are paying $21.5 million while Minnesota picked up Murray for the minimum.

NFL exec: “I feel like they could have done a lot of different things (with Murray), but they chose not to. I don’t know why. They don’t have a good enough roster where that $19.5 million (saved by cutting him) really matters.”

Can they beat the Seahawks right now? No. Jacoby Brissett led the Cards to one win in 12 games last season. This team is terrible, and new coach Mike LaFleur has his work cut out for him.

Carolina

  • Key additions: ER Jaelan Phillips, LB Devin Lloyd, C Luke Fortner, OT Rasheed Walker, QB Kenny Pickett
  • Key losses: RB Rico Dowdle, OL Cade Mays, QB Andy Dalton
  • Top draft projection: TE Kenyon Sadiq

The big news: Carolina paid big for Phillips and Lloyd in an attempt to fix a bottom-third defense.

NFL exec: “(Phillips) fits that 26-year-old, second-contract guy who matches your window.”

Can they beat the Seahawks right now? No. The Hawks shut them down 27-10 last season, and the Panthers need more help on offense to beat the No. 1 defense in the land.

Chicago

  • Key additions: FS Coby Bryant, LB Devin Bush, C Garrett Bradbury, SS Cam Lewis
  • Key losses: WR D.J. Moore, C Drew Dalman, CB Nahshon Wright, S Kevin Byard, LB Tremaine Edmunds, S Jaquan Brisker
  • Top draft projection: S Emmanuel McNeil-Warren

The big news: The Bears traded Moore and surprisingly lost Dalman to retirement, so the offense has a couple of key players to replace. But the defense is the bigger concern, which is why they added Bryant and Bush.

NFL exec: “They had to get better. They are banking on (corners) Jaylon Johnson and Kyler Gordon being healthy. Coby Bryant is going to play in the post. Devin Bush is the athlete that they like. They will probably either (blitz) him or match him underneath. And then I’d be shocked if they do not continue to build the defensive front.”

Can they beat the Seahawks right now? Doubtful – unless the Bears suddenly can improve their really bad defense (23 in scoring, 29th in yards in 2025).

Dallas

  • Key additions: DL Rashan Gary, S Jalen Thompson, CB Cobie Durant
  • Key losses: DT Osa Odighizuwa, DL Solomon Thomas, WR Jalen Tolbert
  • Top draft projections: S Dillon Thieneman, CB Avieon Terrell

The big news: Dallas has two first-rounders but did not want to offer them for Maxx Crosby. Instead they made a trade for Gary, whom Green Bay might have cut anyway. The Cowboys probably are going to pay George Pickens as well.

NFL exec: “Dallas is one of those spin-your-wheels type teams that never really gets a lot better.”

Can they beat the Seahawks right now? No. The Cowboys have not done nearly enough to fix the league’s worst scoring defense.

Denver

  • Key additions: WR Jaylen Waddle
  • Key losses: DT John Franklin-Myers, LB Dre Greenlaw
  • Top draft projection: No first-rounder

The big news: The Broncos made one big move, acquiring Waddle from Miami for a package that included a first-round pick. The offense is now run by the promoted Davis Webb, who replaces Joe Lombardi.

NFL exec: “Denver wants to give Bo Nix his best chance with a new (play caller), so take your shot. But you’d better know some of the flaws. Availability is a concern, and Waddle does not exactly exude toughness. Maybe your culture changes that.”

Can they beat the Seahawks right now? Doubtful. Even with Nix and Waddle, the Broncos don’t have the offense to take on Seattle.

Kansas City

  • Key additions: RB Kenneth Walker III, QB Justin Fields, DT Khyiris Tonga
  • Key losses: CB Trent McDuffie, CB Jaylen Watson, DT Derrick Nnadi, ER Charles Omenihu, LB Leo Chenal, S Bryan Cook, QB Gardner Minshew, WR Marquise Brown, RB Isiah Pacheco
  • Top draft projections: CB Mansoor Delane, CB Colton Hood

The big news: QB Patrick Mahomes is recovering from an ACL injury, so Fields might be the starter early in the season. The Chiefs paid Walker over $14 million a year to take the pressure off. On defense, the Chiefs need new corners and have two first-round picks after trading McDuffie to the Rams.

NFL exec1: “I bet they just run the tread off Justin. It will be a lot of RPO. And they maybe get Walker involved in the passing game so that he can continue to be a two-phase player when Mahomes comes back.”

NFL exec2: “They are banking on (defensive coordinator) Steve Spagnuolo and the defensive scheme. It looks like Spags saying, ‘Just get me some guys, we’ll be fine.’”

Can they beat the Seahawks right now? Maybe. Even if Mahomes is back, the secondary needs to prove it can stop Sam Darnold, Jaxon Smith-Njigba and Rashid Shaheed.

Las Vegas

  • Key additions: QB Kirk Cousins, C Tyler Linderbaum, WR Jalen Nailor, OG Spencer Burford, ER Kwity Paye, LB Quay Walker, LB Nakobe Dean
  • Key losses: QB Geno Smith, OG Dylan Parham
  • Top draft projection: QB Fernando Mendoza

The big news: Klint Kubiak left Seattle to replace Pete Carroll. The Raiders then had a deal to trade Maxx Crosby to Baltimore for two first-rounders, but the Ravens backed out at the last second. The question now becomes whether the Raiders try to trade Crosby again.

NFL exec: “They should because the windows don’t match up for them being good and Crosby making what he is making. But I don’t think they want to be perceived as being taken advantage of again, and so I don’t think they will do that.”

Can they beat the Seahawks right now? Obviously not, and Kubiak knows that.

L.A. Chargers

  • Key additions: C Tyler Biadasz, OG Strange Cole, NT Dalvin Tomlinson
  • Key losses: ER Odafe Oweh, OG Zion Johnson, C Bradley Bozeman, OG Mekhi Becton
  • Top draft projection: DL Peter Woods

The big news: Former Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel will run the offense now, replacing Greg Roman. The Chargers also are shaking up their line a bit but also just hoping their top players, especially tackles Rashawn Slater and Joe Alt, can stay healthy for QB Justin Herbert.

NFL exec: “Their quarterback is making $24 million this year, and they are going to be the lowest cash spending team in the league. Take advantage of this and get good players, even if it’s just on one-year deals.”

Can they beat the Seahawks right now? Doubtful. The Chargers’ offense has been a mess for various reasons, and it likely will take more than McDaniel to fix it.

L.A. Rams

  • Key additions: CB Trent McDuffie, CB Jaylen Watson
  • Key losses: CB Cobie Durant, WR Tutu Atwell
  • Top draft projection: WR Makai Lemon

The big news: The Rams traded four picks, including a first-rounder, for McDuffie and then signed his former KC teammate in a remake of the L.A. secondary designed to beat Seattle.

NFL exec1: “I don’t mind it. If you still think you are in the window and you have Matt Stafford coming back, you have to do everything you can to try to win it one more time. They still have a first-round pick.”

NFL exec2: “They put their chips to the middle of the table. They have not extended any of their young core. It’s going to be very interesting what happens there if it doesn’t work.”

Can they beat the Seahawks right now? Yes. They definitely increased their chances by upgrading their secondary. Stafford has to stay healthy for them to have any chance, of course.

New England

  • Key additions: WR Romeo Doubs, S Kevin Byard, OG Alijah Vera-Tucker, DL Dre Jones
  • Key losses: ER K’Lavon Chaisson, DL Khyiris Tonga, WR Stefon Diggs
  • Top draft projection: ER T.J. Parker

The big news: The Patriots are trying to upgrade Drake Maye’s receiving corps, and execs think they will be trading for A.J. Brown before camp begins. They are keeping Will Campbell at left tackle but moving Jared Wilson to center. Will that improve their O-line?

NFL exec1: “They did not improve on the field from Diggs. Maybe they did off the field from a headache standpoint. It seems just a matter of waiting until June 1 passes for Philly to trade A.J. Brown, who in my opinion is a declining player each of the last three seasons.”

NFL exec2: “I like Vera-Tucker at guard, and I like the inside rush of Dre’Mont Jones. They know what they are getting from Kevin Byard, a playmaker on the back end and a veteran that knows their system. They lost Chaisson, but they kind of created him. I think he’ll revert to what he was before.”

Can they beat the Seahawks right now? Doubtful. The Hawks dominated Campbell in the Super Bowl and likely will again. Maye will be seeing ghosts.

N.Y. Giants

  • Key additions: TE Isaiah Likely, WR Darnell Mooney, LB Tremaine Edmunds, CB Greg Newsome, K Jason Sanders
  • Key losses: WR Wan’Dale Robinson, CB Cor’Dale Flott, TE Daniel Bellinger
  • Top draft projection: LB Sonny Styles

The big news: John Harbaugh automatically makes the Giants more of a threat than they ever were under Brian Daboll.

NFL exec1: “I think what they have done is pretty good to this point.”

NFL exec2: “Nothing they did really scares you.”

Can they beat the Seahawks right now? No. The Giants finally got off the mat on offense in 2025, thanks to rookie QB Jaxson Dart, but the defense is still pinned toward the bottom of the league.

Philadelphia

  • Key additions: CB Riq Woolen, ER Arnold Ebiketie, WR Marquise Brown
  • Key losses: ER Jaelan Phillips, LB Nakobe Dean, S Reed Blankenship
  • Top draft projection: OT Blake Miller

The big news: The Eagles are likely going to trade A.J. Brown, and Jalen Hurts is on the hot seat. Drama will follow the Eagles all the way into the season – even as they work to keep defensive stars (they just extended DT Jordan Davis).

NFL exec: “Philly is always going to be Philly by virtue of them drafting and then making strategic decisions, signing guys for extensions early, whether it was the quarterback or the two receivers. Now they are doing it with the D-linemen. They got stale because their running game sucked and their offensive line was not very good. Let’s see what they do in the draft and if the quarterback can get better.”

Can they beat the Seahawks right now? Maybe. But their offense needs to get it together. This should be one of the Hawks’ more intriguing games of 2026.

San Francisco

  • Key additions: WR Mike Evans, WR Christian Kirk, LB Dre Greenlaw, DL Osa Odighizuwa
  • Key losses: WR Kendrick Bourne, WR Jauan Jennings
  • Top draft projection: OT Caleb Lomu

The big news: The 49ers added Evans and brought back Greenlaw, but some wonder whether those guys will play enough to help the team contend against the Rams and Seahawks.

NFL exec1: “Mike Evans is going to miss 4-6 games this year, Dre Greenlaw is going to miss eight and you are going to wonder why your players are always hurt.”

NFL exec2: “They are going for it, man. The red zone production is going to go up even more. Now you have the backside X that can win one-on-one.”

Can they beat the Seahawks right now? Doubtful. Kyle Shanahan’s offense averaged 8.7 points in three games against Seattle’s defense in 2025. A 33-year-old Evans is not the answer.

Washington

  • Key additions: ER Odafe Oweh, ER K’Lavon Chaisson, TE Chigoziem Okonkwo, CB Amik Robertson, LB Leo Chenal, DL Tim Settle, RB Rachaad White
  • Key losses: DL Jonathan Allen, C Tyler Biadasz, LB Bobby Wagner, CB Marshon Lattimore, ER Jacob Martin
  • Top draft projection: S Caleb Downs

The big news: The Commanders are revamping their defense and hoping for a healthy QB Jayden Daniels in 2026 (with a new offensive coordinator).

NFL exec: “They are making a bunch of revolving-door moves this year, which looks like a panic to me. It is going to depend on how the quarterback plays. He can save it all.”

Can they beat the Seahawks right now? No. We thought the Commanders would be a tough out in 2025, but Seattle blew them out 38-14. Even the defensive moves will not bridge that huge gap.

  1. It’s obvious, the Rams are trying to rebuild their defense, to perform like ‘The Legion of Boom’.

The legion of Boom closed down the deep threat pass. Making the game one denominational, the run game.

It is the only way the Rams would have a chance to beat the Seahawks next year.

    1. Those games will remain close as long as Stafford is healthy and the Hawks can’t pressure him fast enough. They really need a pass rusher who can win fast off the ball …
