A post-haircut shot he posted on Instagram last week shows a trim but not very muscular McDowell in Miami.
But McDowell is working out, as his Instagram story on the mobile app showed. Riding in a car, a sweaty McDowell says, “These goddamn workouts are getting out of hand.” (H/T to SeattleZ12 on Seahawks Reddit for pointing out McDowell’s post.)
McDowell, who suffered a serious head injury in an ATV accident last summer, was cleared to work out last October.
“He is working out with the trainers,” coach Pete Carroll said then. “They are just kind of re-entering the conditioning phase, just trying to get him back in some shape and all of that, just to get him moving. So it is a positive sign for him. … He really wants to be playing football.”
This new video seems to show him working toward that goal. He also posted a photo with the words “Feeling good getting better” overlaid. He still has not done any football work since last June, though, and his football future remains unclear.
McDowell also was arrested in December in Atlanta and went on a tirade about how rich he was. He posted an apology on Twitter shortly after, and he reportedly made a court appearance in that case Jan. 29. So that is another situation to monitor with Seattle’s top draft pick from 2017.
Perhaps Carroll and John Schneider will shed some light on it all when they speak from the Combine in Indianapolis later this week.
