The Seahawks have placed cornerback Jeremy Lane on injured reserve, designating him for return, which means he will be out at least eight weeks with the groin injury he aggravated in the season opener last Thursday.
The Seahawks have begun a search for his replacement, reportedly working out undrafted rookie Keith Lewis and fourth-year player Mike Harris among five cornerbacks on Monday.
The Seahawks also announced the signing of offensive lineman Andrew McDonald, who has a unique tale, and a couple of practice squad moves.
McDonald bumps the line roster up to nine players after the Hawks played with just eight against Green Bay.
Meanwhile, with Lane out two months and Tharold Simon (knee surgery) out four weeks, they are down to three healthy cornerbacks.
It appears they are looking for younger players rather than veterans such as Chris Houston (29), Dunta Robinson (32) or Champ Bailey (36).
Lewis was released by Tampa Bay in final cuts, and Harris was let go by Jacksonville. He was a nickel back for the Jaguars the past two seasons.
Lewis has the size (6 feet 1, 195 pounds) the Hawks like, and he apparently ran a 4.31 40-yard dash at the workout on Monday.
