Hawks quickly extend JSN — now signed for six years, $195M

The Seahawks wasted no time in extending Jaxon Smith-Njigba, just days after picking up his 2027 option.

It’s a great deal for JSN — and probably an ever better deal for the Hawks.

The four-year extension reportedly is worth $168.6 million, a $42.15 million average that is being considered a new record for NFL wide receivers.

The Seahawks technically tore up the 2026 season as well — the last year of JSN’s rookie contract — so this deal in totality is for six years, $195.1 million. The Hawks are getting the 2025 Offensive Player of the Year for $32.5 million going forward.

The deal includes $120 million in total guarantees — the top amount for any receiver contract right now — and $69 million in full guarantees.

The signing bonus is $35 million – $3 million shy of CeeDee Lamb’s record for receivers. But JSN will get another $30 million bonus in 2027.

JSN’s agents presented this to national reporters as a four-year extension — which would break down to 71% in total guarantees and 41% in full guarantees. But the guarantees incorporate $1.5 million in 2026 and the $23.9 million fifth-year option — thus the totals have to be divided by six.

That makes the full guarantees amount to about 35% of the total deal — the same amount Charles Cross got in his recent extension. The total guarantees are 61.5% — a bit under Ja’Marr Chase’s 68% but still very good.

Here is the breakdown of JSN’s contract.
