Another blowout on tap as desperate Colts turn to Old Man Rivers?

The last time the Seahawks faced a real challenge was against the Rams four weeks ago. Since that 21-19 loss, they have dominated Tennessee, Minnesota and Atlanta by a combined score of 93-33.

They probably will add another blowout win today against the Colts, who lost Daniel Jones for the season last week and are desperately going with rusty 44-year-old Philip Rivers today.

Even with Jones and the NFL’s leading rusher, the Colts had lost four of the last five following a 7-1 start. Jonathan Taylor leads the league with 1,356 rushing yards, but he has averaged a mere 65.5 in four recent losses to good AFC teams: Pittsburgh, Kansas City, Houston and Jacksonville. Now he goes against a Seattle defense that has not yielded a 100-yard rusher in 22 games.

The Seahawks have given up just nine points in the past two games, a 37-9 wipeout of Atlanta following a 26-0 shutout of Minnesota. With Rivers at QB, the Colts are not likely to fare much better.

The Seahawks could use another blowout win, with a massive Thursday night rematch vs. the Rams looming. The Rams have a much tougher matchup today against Detroit.

Assuming both win today, the winner Thursday will have the inside track to the No. 1 seed in the NFC.

  1. If you ask me, Rivers is nuts and the Colts are delusional, no matter how many pundits and podcasters feel obligated to hype his return.

Is Jarran Reed a gamer or what? Hard to believe that many Hawks fans dismissed his signing.
