By the numbers: Hawks put together back-to-back blowouts

The Seahawks are playing dominant football right now — following up a blowout of Washington on Sunday Night Football last week with a 44-22 blasting of Arizona this week.

This sets up a monster matchup with the also 7-2 Los Angeles Rams in Week 11.

Before we look at that game, let’s look at the best numbers from the big win over Arizona.

Tyrice Knight and DeMarcus Lawrence incredibly teamed up on almost identical sack-fumble-touchdown plays. Lawrence’s TD double has been accomplished just four times in NFL history — and just twice in the Super Bowl era.

Jaxon Smith-Njigba: “I’m just thankful DeMarcus Lawrence is on my team, honestly. I grew up (in Dallas area) watching him on the Cowboys, so to have him, it’s an honor, and I still can’t really believe that he’s on my team. But just thankful for a lot of great players that we have.”

Knight joined a very select club of Seahawks to turn the strip sack double: Frank Clark, Chris Clemons, Julian Peterson, Cortez Kennedy, Rufus Porter (twice), Joe Nash, Jacob Green.

Mike Macdonald on Knight: “Obviously we want Ernest (Jones IV) back as soon as possible, but he’s showing that he can go in and play great ball for us. … Both (fumble sacks) were pressures that we haven’t ran before, so to be able to go in and execute … was some high-powered stuff.”

Nick Emmanwori was all over the place, in pass rush and coverage. He knocked down four passes while tallying nine tackles and getting half a sack. He is the first NFL rookie and fourth player ever to tally that combination of stats, according to Hawk Blogger’s postgame research.

6

Drake Thomas, who has been one of the most surprising players on the team this season, has a tackle for loss in six straight games. Just three others (Leonard Williams, Boye Mafe, Cliff Avril) have done that in team history, according to Hawk Blogger’s postgame research.

20

The Seahawks have not had consecutive 20-point blowouts since 2015.

28-0

The Hawks have led 28-0 in consecutive games, reportedly just the third team to do that in the Super Bowl era. They took a 28-0 lead on Washington en route to a 38-14 win last week.

30.6

The Seahawks have bumped their scoring average over 30 points, ranking third in the league behind Detroit (32.1) and Indianapolis (31.4). In Seahawks history, only the 2020 club led by Russell Wilson’s deep passing exceeded that number through nine games (32.2).

36.3

The Hawks have scored 109 points in the past three games — third in the NFL over that span behind Cincinnati and the Rams.

146

The Hawks pressured Jacoby Brissett 22 times and now have 146 QB pressures, per ESPN Research. It is the highest number by any team through nine games since ESPN began tracking the stat in 2009.

176

Jason Myers hit three field goals to set the team record with 176 — beating Steven Hauschka’s record 175.

198

The Hawks put up a season-high 198 yards rushing — 201 coming from their running backs (including Rashid Shaheed). They really got it going in the second half. Zach Charbonnet led the way with 83 yards (5.9 ypc) and a touchdown, Kenneth Walker III ran for 67 (4.8), and George Holani added 31 (4.4) and a TD.

1,041

Smith-Njigba caught five balls for 93 yards and a touchdown. He now has 1,041 yards — an NFL-leading total that has him on pace for a league-record 1,966 yards.
