The Combine is over and the league year (i.e., free agency and trading) is about to start, so it’s a perfect time to do a status check on the Seahawks, including free agency rumors and mock drafts:

QUARTERBACK
Status: Russell Wilson is healthy, working out in California and taking weird pictures with his family. The Hawks might look at bringing in someone to challenge Trevone Boykin for the No. 2 spot.
Free agents: None.
FA and draft rumors: More than one person has speculated that Colin Kaepernick, impending former 49er, could join his former nemeses as Wilson’s backup.

RUNNING BACK
Status: Pete Carroll is hoping for a healthy Thomas Rawls and C.J. Prosise this year. Alex Collins also came on late last season and could be a bigger factor in 2017. The fullback position could be stacked if both Brandon Cottom and Marcel Reece are back.
Free agents: FB Marcel Reece, FB Will Tukuafu.
FA and draft rumors: Adrian Peterson reportedly wants to play for Oakland, Seattle or New England. The Hawks are unlikely to offer him much, so the Raiders seem his best option. … Oklahama State’s Chris Carson (6-0, 218) was projected to Seattle in the seventh round of Rob Staton’s most recent mock.

WIDE RECEIVER
Status: Tyler Lockett (broken leg) is on pace to be ready for the start of the season, and the team is excited about Paul Richardson after he stepped up in Lockett’s absence last season. … Jermaine Kearse said last season was humbling and he is looking forward to proving himself again.
Free agents: None.
FA and draft rumors: The Seahawks reportedly are interested in Baltimore’s Kamar Aiken, who would be a cheap addition if it happened.

TIGHT END
Status: John Schneider put to rest silly speculation that Jimmy Graham would be let go; he will definitely return. Nick Vannett stands as the No. 2 tight end for now, with Luke Willson and Brandon Williams both free agents, and Carroll said Vannett is going to be “a big factor going forward.” Williams seems likely to re-sign for a year, but Willson seems all but gone. It’s a good draft for tight ends, which could offer the Hawks the chance to select Graham’s replacement — if they don’t see themselves extending him in the next year.
Free agents: Luke Willson, Brandon Williams.
FA and draft rumors: Teams such as Washington or Detroit could pursue Willson in free agency. … A third-round mock projects George Kittle (Iowa) to Seattle.

OFFENSIVE LINE
Status: The Seahawks reportedly tendered RFA Garry Gilliam at $1.8 million (which gives them right of refusal), so they will have their five incumbents back. Carroll said George Fant is the No. 1 left tackle at this point. Schneider made it clear he wants to add better veteran depth.
Free agent: Bradley Sowell.
FA and draft rumors: The Hawks already have been linked to the likes of D.J. Fluker (Chargers) and Brian Schwenke (Titans) in free agency. Other possibilities include Mike Remmers (Carolina right tackle), Luke Joeckel (Jacksonville), Austin Pasztor (Cleveland) and Earl Watford (Arizona). … A few first-round mocks are projecting Forrest Lamp, a highly athletic tackle from Fant’s school, Western Kentucky. It would be somewhat apropos to have the former teammates battle for the LT spot. … Staton projected Utah guard Isaac Asiata in the third round.

DEFENSIVE LINE
Status: Cliff Avril is expected to return in plenty of time after hernia surgery. Inside, the Seahawks need depth and maybe some pass-rush help.
Free agents: Tony McDaniel, Damontre Moore, John Jenkins.
FA and draft rumors: The Hawks checked into Earl Mitchell and also have been linked to Dallas D-tackle Terrell McClain, who could end up joining Mitchell in San Francisco. … Outside rusher Tim Williams (Alabama) and versatile tackle Caleb Brantley (Florida) have been mocked to the Hawks in the first round. … Inside rusher Eddie Vanderdoes (UCLA) is a third-rounder in one mock.

LINEBACKER
Status: The Hawks are looking for an upgrade at SAM, something they probably will try to find in the draft.
Free agents: Mike Morgan, Brock Coyle, Dewey McDonald.
FA and draft rumors: Coyle and McDonald reportedly will not be offered RFA tenders, but that doesn’t mean the Hawks won’t re-sign them. … Explosive pass rusher Tyus Bowser (Houston) could be the next Bruce Irvin — raw rusher who develops into a solid linebacker. A couple of mocks project him to Seattle in the second round.

SECONDARY
Status: Earl Thomas (broken leg) is running, and Kam Chancellor is recovering from surgery to remove bone spurs from his ankles (again). Because DeShawn Shead is recovering from his ACL injury, the team did not tender the RFA, expecting instead to sign him to a cheaper deal as he recovers. The draft is loaded with DBs, and the Hawks figure to add at least one corner to push Jeremy Lane and one safety to back up Thomas and/or Chancellor. This should be the first year Schneider drafts a corner before the fourth round.
Free agents: Kelcie McCray, Steven Terrell, Mohammed Seisay, Neiko Thorpe, Jeron Johnson.
FA and draft rumors: A few first-round mocks have projected corners Kevin King (Washington) and Marlon Humphrey (Alabama), and one suggested the Hawks might take rover Jabrill Peppers (Michigan). … The Hawks showed a ton of interest in 6-4 Connecticut safety Obi Melifonwu, whose Combine performance might have moved him into the bottom of the first round. If the Hawks really love him, they might move down from No. 26 and take him.

SPECIAL TEAMS
Status: Blair Walsh is the presumed replacement for Steven Hauschka, and it remains to be seen whether Nolan Frese, Tyler Ott or someone else ends up snapping for Walsh and Jon Ryan. The Seahawks are short on return men with Lockett injured, but Prosise probably can handle those duties if healthy. They need to re-sign or replace key ST guys such as Morgan and Coyle.
Free agents: Steven Hauschka, Devin Hester.
FA and draft rumors: The Hawks are expected to add another kicker to compete against Walsh.
